It's Been Awhile...

Whew- the Cookie Fairies have really been on vacation! We have actually done some cookies and brownies, I just haven't blogged about it. We got two new neighbors so we made some brownies for them. As a kid, we used to always get around to greet the new neighbors. When we moved in, nobody came to meet us. I want to change that culture in our neighborhood, and it really was great to at least know their names and a little bit about them.

There is a good reason for our break. I am pregnant, and I was pretty sick for awhile. Then, it was Christmas and then we just didn't get back in the swing of things for awhile. But...

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, so I thought we should have some fun. We made some sugar cookies.

Under normal circumstances, I do everything in my power to avoid making any kind of cookie that requires me to roll out dough, cut the dough into various shapes, and repeat. Again and again and again. But, the kids sure love decorating cookies, and we had some whipping cream in the fridge I wanted to use up, so we decided to go for it.

This is C making her "cake." She took some of the dough and made her own little cookie (which she insisted on calling cake). She worked on it for about 10 minutes.

Here are A and C working hard:

Tomorrow we will deliver them to friends and neighbors. For now, I am exhausted! These really take a lot of work on Mom's part!

And We're Off!

OK, today was our first day as The Cookie Fairies! I took A aside and told her we were going to make cookies and deliver them to whoever The Spirit told us to go to. She was incredibly excited- though admittedly, she also wanted to know if we could eat the cookies!

I decided that we would make Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. It's not fall, but I had never made them before- even though I love them- so that's what we made.
I think we make a pretty great duo!
To see this look on her face makes all the effort worth it!
 The finished product:

And, of course, we HAD to test taste them to make sure they were good! (I am not certain this endeavor will not be good for our waistlines- we will have to do more physical activities to make up for it!)
Overall, I think we are on a good track. It was a lot of fun delivering the cookies, and as you can tell from the photos- A LOVED it!
